Relay teams ready to take on cancer

This year’s 24-hour Relay For Life takes place at Aylesbury Rugby Club and the fundraising target is £95,000.

But the 28 teams are ready to smash it when they set off at noon on Saturday to support the work of Cancer Research UK.

There will be live music, stalls, activities and entertainment and it is free to attend.

Chair of Relay for Life Aylesbury, Paula Kirby, said: “Relay is a fantastic day – not only for those taking part but also for spectators and the general public.

“We hope as many people as possible will come along and enjoy the day and help us to raise as much money as 
possible.”

Aylesbury will also be turning purple on Friday as more than 50 schools and businesses from the Vale have signed up for Purple Friday.

Miss Kirby explained that the new initiative for 2015, is a simple and fun way to take part, no matter your age or fitness level.

She said: “Many individuals and organisations want to be involved in Relay but can’t form a full team.

“Dressing up for the day in purple, the colour which honours our cancer survivors, is something everyone can do.”
