Reader Rupert captures photographs stunning swallow-tailed moth

Bucks Herald reader Rupert Anson captured this striking swallow-tailed moth (ourapteryx sambucaria) which spent the night on his Bierton front door.

Measuring 50-60 mm between its wing tips, the text books tell us that these moths ‘are on the wing in July and August, although an occasional specimen has been seen in the autumn’.
