As part of the Generous George format, the pub agrees to give 1p of every main meal to a local charity of their choice. Since The Honey Bee’s opening towards the end of 2014, they have raised £671 for Headway and will now donate to a different charity every quarter of a year.

Karen Styles, service manager for Headway, Phil Simmons, chairman of trustees at Headway Aylesbury Vale and a handful of Headway clients, met manager Natalie Jackson and staff of the Honey Bee.

Karen and the clients also got a chance to meet some of the staff who had helped to achieve the donation for the year.

Phil said: “We are delighted to receive this donation from The Honey Bee. It will make a real difference for survivors of brain injuries because it will help to support the continuing efforts of our staff and volunteers.

“Headway is here to provide services to those suffering from Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), and we estimate there are some 1,500 ABI survivors in the Aylesbury Vale alone. We are reliant on donations to continue our good work so we do really appreciate the wonderful support given to us by the pub and the Marston’s Generous George charity.”

Natalie added: “I am really overwhelmed by the great support we have had from the community for our first year. It has been really humbling to see where the money raised will go and how this will benefit Headway.

“The Honey Bee team members now have the chance to vote on their choice of the next charity to donate to, which will be chosen over the next month. But obviously, all of this is not possible without the help of the local community whose dedication to the pub has enabled the donations to be made.”
