Prolific Bucks Herald letter-writer dies


Peter Vaughan, of Buckingham Road, Aylesbury, died on February 17 at the age of 68 following a short illness.
His letters regularly featured in The Bucks Herald and covered topics as diverse as the state of the bus layby in Buckingham Road, getting a new home for Aylesbury United and immigration.

Hide AdHe was born in Aylesbury on March 28, 1947, the youngest of four children.
His father was in the RAF and was at Halton for a time.
During his childhood he moved to various places such as Dorton, Haddenham and Weston Turville before returning to Aylesbury.
His first marriage was in 1968 to Shirley Adams. They had two children, Simon and Karl, who writes the Back in Time column for this newspaper. They divorced in 1985 and Mr Vaughan married again in 1986 to Janice, who was his wife up until his death.
He worked for TRW United Carr until being made redundant in his 50s. He then worked for Royal Mail.
In his spare time he was an avid supporter of Blackburn Rovers. He also enjoyed gardening.
