Polls open in Oakfield by-election

Aylesbury voters are going to the polls today in a by-election sparked by the death of former mayor Steve Patrick.

The Oakfield seat on Aylesbury Vale District Council and Aylesbury Town Council are up for grabs, with the Liberal Democrats looking to hold onto both.

The candidates for the district council election are Phil Gomm (UKIP), Allison Harrison (Liberal Democrats), Patrick Martin (Independent), Roy McNickle (Labour) and Edward Sims (Conservative).

The candidates for the town council election are Heather Adams (UKIP), Patrick Martin (Independent), Roy McNickle (Labour), Edward Sims (Conservative) and Mark Willis (Liberal Democrats).

Polls will be open until 10pm, with a result expected before midnight.
