General Election 2019: Labour second place candidate vows to hold new MP to account

Labour candidate Liz Hind has vowed to hold new MP Rob Butler to account, saying that democracy doesn't stop here.

The Millwrights pub landlady used her conceding speech to thank supporters, and also give some strong words about democracy.

She said: "Thank you of course to the staff at the polling stations and the police, thank you to my agent Michelle for being fantastic and also for the support I have had standing as a woman in this constituency from the Fabian Women's Network and from the Labour Women's Network. It is really not easy being a woman in politics so I really am very proud to stand as a woman.

"We have heard a lot of promises during this election campaign. Just because the ballot boxes are now going back in the cupboards that does not mean to say that democracy is over.

"The people of Aylesbury deserve someone else standing for them and holding our MP to account."
