Plan ahead this weekend as Chiltern Railways test out new line

Major engineering works will be taking place on the Chiltern Railways network over the weekend, meaning there will be no early morning trains to London Marylebone from Banbury and Aylesbury Vale Parkway.

Chiltern Railways will be testing the new line from Oxford Parkway to London Marylebone, meaning no trains will be running between London Marylebone and Banbury until about 7.50am on Saturday, September 12.

After that time the line will reopen between London Marylebone and Princes Risborough and London Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway.

It will remain closed between Princes Risborough and Banbury and a bus replacement service will be in operation.

Customers travelling from the north of Banbury to London are advised to travel on a Chiltern Railways service to Oxford for Great Western Services to London Paddington.

On Sunday, September 13 the line will also be closed between Princes Risborough and Banbury until about 12.25pm. A bus replacement service also also be operating on this day between the two station and between Princes Risborough and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Customers travelling from King’s Sutton during this time should use the help point.

After 12.25pm the line will still be closed between Princes Risborough and Banbury but customers travelling from the north of Banbury to London should travel on the Chiltern Railways service to Oxford for the First Great Western service to London Paddington.
