The mayor of Aylesbury has opened a new performing arts school in the town.
Cllr Allison Harrison opened the Aylesbury Performing Arts Centre based at Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School on Monday evening.
Students from the school then performed a set of competition dances for the audience.
The school was set up by joint principals Lyndsay Aldred and Katie Ford and offers classes for children aged 2 1/2 to 18 in ballet, tap, modern, jazz, limbering, pointe work, singing and musical theatre.
Cllr Harrison said: “The talent shown was absolutely incredible.
“I wish them the best of luck.
“It’s very important to have these groups as part of our community, and it was especially encouraging to see several young men getting involved”.
The teachers then gave a sample lesson in grade three tap.
Children in the audience participated in what Cllr Harrison described as an “enthusiastic and inspiring demonstration”.
The joint principals both gained ten years of experience in the field before deciding to set up their own school.
Katie said she thought “the night went really well.”
