Around 1,500 schoolchildren from across Bucks took part in a mini-Olympics held in Aylesbury today (Friday).
The youngsters aged from seven to 14 descended on Stoke Mandeville Stadium for the Sainsbury’s School Games, which also boasted guest speakers and dance performances.
The stadium was the venue for the opening ceremony and several of the competitions, but other sites around Aylesbury hosted other sports.
The event was co-ordinated by Leap, the Sport and Activity Partnership for Bucks and MK, in partnership with the county’s School Games Organisers and is the culmination of a year-long programme of qualifying competitions.
Speakers included Kirsty Mackay, the England hockey goalkeeper and Alistair Patrick-Heselton, the GB Paralympic 7-a-side Footballer.
