Young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in Aylesbury invited to share ideas to improve information for people moving into adult life
They are invited to take part in special online events – Bucks Young People’s Design Champions Online Forums. The first takes place later today, Tuesday 18 August, and more are being arranged for next week.
Young people with SEND will be asked to help the Council understand the information they need to access as they move through life, such as choosing school subjects, finding a college, getting work experience or a job, living independently and building healthy relationships.

Any young person with SEND can take part.
People are welcome to bring parents or carers to join them at these online sessions. Separate sessions are also being arranged for parents and carers to give their views and ideas on SEND information – details of these can be found below.
These can include subjects like employment and volunteering opportunities, internships and apprenticeships. They can also cover areas like housing for young people, living independently, and living active and fulfilled lives within their communities.
Tony Green, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Youth Provision, said: “It is vital that we offer the best information possible to young people with SEND, and that this information is clear, easy to access and fun and interesting to look at. To do that it is really important we hear the views and ideas of people with experiences of growing up in Buckinghamshire. We want them to tell us what is working well, what can be improved, and what ideas they may have for us to do things differently. This is the role of a Design Champion.
