The firm behind the controversial rail scheme says that in Buckinghamshire there are no large scale works planned for the foreseeable future.

At the moment contractors, employed by early works contractor Fusion are carrying out preliminary tasks. And for the next three to six months, residents can expect to see more enabling works, which includes archaeology, utility diversions, vegetation clearance and junction improvement works.

To help local junctions cope with increased HGV movements associated with HS2 traffic the firm says contractors need to start some junction improvements at a number of locations.

These are Amersham, Great Missenden, The A41 junction with The Broadway.

In addition to these we have works taking place near the Chalfont St Peter vent shaft, contractors will be constructing an access road to remove the need of using the more residential route.

The firm says that utility diversions are taking place, or starting soon, between Great Missenden and Aylesbury.

These are being undertaken by National Grid. There will also be diversions taking place soon in Mixbury and Turweston.

These will be progressed by WPD.

HS2 Limited says there is a high pressure gas diversion in the Quainton area, this will be completed by SGN.

Between Quainton and Calvert there will also be a number of other activities, like vegetation clearance and associated ecology works, like moving Great Crest Newts to the habitat sites HS2 have built.

The spokesperson said: "This is part of preparation for the establishment of the Calvert railhead – where bulk materials will be delivered by rail before being shifted up and down the trace. Once construction is complete, the railhead will be removed and a much smaller infrastructure maintenance depot will be built in its place. This is at the crossing point between HS2 and east-west rail."

They added that the contractors' job is to clear the way ahead of the start of construction.

The actual building of the railway in Bucks will be done by main works contractor – EKFB.

The spokesperson said: "They are currently mobilising, but aren’t expected to start arriving on site in any significant way until the autumn, and full scale construction isn’t really expected till next year. (note – the recent ‘notice to proceed’ applies to EKFB – not the project as a whole.)
