A spokesperson for the theatre, which has been forced to cancel all performances as a result of the global virus threat, said: "We will be contacting all customers directly as we move your tickets to the corresponding 2021/22 rescheduled performance and appreciate your patience as we manage a huge amount of orders and enquiries."

And star of the show Andy Collins, said: “The bra made to fit three is washed and ironed, the pots and pans un-dented and polished… Even the water pistols were filled and ready for action.

"My Christmas will not be the same without you wonderful people joining in with all the fun of panto! Still don’t be down as next year will be the funniest, bestest, wonderfulest, wettest year of all!”

The Waterside spokesperson added: "All together now… Pantomime will be back! Thank you to everyone who continues to support us as we work tirelessly towards re-opening our beautiful theatre and bringing you the shows you love."
