The Winslow branch of unique pets will, however, stay open.

Owners Jen, Lu and Tom said they were making the announcement 'with a heavy heart', but could no longer keep the business afloat as the firm battled huge losses as the Coronavirus pandemic begins to hit local businesses.

The post said: "Between the loss of our services and reduced sales due to Covid-19, we are currently haemorrhaging an average of £9,000 per week. In order to try and protect a few jobs and keep the company going in some form, we need to significantly reduce our overheads."

The firm are closing their grooming and swimming services, however they will be honouring any appointments that have already been booked.

There is some good news as the Winslow shop will remain open as normal Monday – Saturday 9am-5pm.

She asked loyal patrons to 'bear with them' while they work through their diaries to honour remaining commitments, adding 'we're working as fast as we can'.

Training will continue and classes booked before Covid-19 will be honoured and then future sessions will be relocated.

They added: "We are grateful for your patience and understanding while we reorganise the business.

"Please join us as we extend our heartfelt gratitude and support towards our team as this has been a very difficult and devastating decision, not only as a business, but with the lives it will affect.

"They have been true superheroes and worked way above and beyond what could have been expected to get us this far. We can’t thank the team enough in general, and not least for the extra effort they have shown these last 8 weeks."
