Tring schoolgirl with a heart of gold shaves off her lovely brown locks to help Dacorum's homeless

A 10-year-old girl from Tring shaved her head on Valentine's Day to raise money for DENS.

Laura, a student at Bishop Wood School, decided to raise money for DENS by shedding her long locks, so she could help people facing homelessness throughout Dacorum.

Thanks to Laura’s epic fundraising efforts, she has already smashed her target of £1,000 and has raised over £2,100 for the charity.

Laura said: “I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while. I know about DENS through my school because we support the Harvest Appeal.

"I want to do something to help homeless people because everyone deserves a home.

"It’s wrong that people don’t have somewhere to stay and something to eat so that every day is a struggle. I want to stop that struggle."

DENS helps to rebuild lives and aims to be the first port of call for people in Dacorum who are facing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion; to support and empower them to take the next positive step in their lives.

A spokesperson for DENS said: "We would like to say a huge thank you to Laura for raising both awareness and vital funds for DENS with this inspiring act of kindness.

"Her support will ensure that we can continue to help rebuild the lives of vulnerable people in the community."
