A touching tribute to our NHS heroes has appeared in a field close to Coombe Hill in Wendover, and the Chequers estate.

The clever rainbow tribute was spotted by Bucks Herald reader Mike Rich, who took the picture from the Coombe Hill monument during his daily exercise this weekend.

It is the work of farmer Daniel Hares, who runs Buckmoorend Farm with his father Richard, wife Steph and daughters Eva, three and Josie, two.

Daniel made the artwork with a machine called a cultinvator, which was able to make the striking design without damaging the soil too much on the farm which grows cereal and also rears sheep, cows and pigs.

He said that the rainbow artwork was inspired by all of our emergency services, and felt like a way to join in the regular Thursday clapping for the NHS, even though the farm has no close neighbours.

He said: “We have a small farm shop on the farm and quite often we get people come in who are NHS workers.

“Recently I spoke to a young lady and asked her what she thought about the clapping every Thursday, from the perspective of working in the NHS.

“She said that she loves it, and gets really emotional. So the idea was borne out of that.

“I also have a friend who works for the Met Police in London, and like all our emergency workers he’s working really hard at the moment.

“We want to thank not only the NHS, but also keyworkers like the bin men too, they are all keeping this country going.”

And Daniel also stressed that more needs to be done after the pandemic is over to make sure our NHS can survive for years to come.

“This isn’t just about the next few weeks. I have a real concern about the NHS and losing it for good. It is so rare to have a healthcare system like ours and it is so important to protect it.”

The Hares family have asked that if anyone who is inspired by their tribute and would like to make a donation they make it to the NHS charity by visiting www.nhscharitiestogether.co.uk
