They might not get to use their play area for a while, but in Ludgershall these youngsters are still making a noise!

It seems like a long time since March 16 when these Ludgershall youngsters posed for our photographer Derek Pelling to mark the start of works to build their brand new play area.

But, they remain undeterred, and even though they may not get to directly socialise with friends, or play on their new play area for a while longer they have been making a big noise to say thank you to public service workers during the coronavirus lockdown.

Every day since last Saturday, the children and villagers have been making a noise in support of front line staff dealing with coronavirus, and also to break the silence for those in the village who are self isolating.

Everyday people are invited to bang a drum, blow a whistle, hit a rubbish bin with a wooden spoon and come to the end of their drives to join in, making sure that they are socially distanced.

Villagers say they plan to do this until the threat recedes.

Resident Clare Brown said: "We also have put teddy bears in our windows, in our trees and pictures on the posts so the children can go on a teddy bear hunt."
