Spandau singer Tony Hadley wades in to Singapore radio show prize debacle

Muhammed Shalehan, from Singapore was playing 'Celebrity Name Drop' which carried a monster reward of 10,000 Singaporean dollars (£5,757).

Muhammed had in his view correctly identified the voice of Mr Hadley, however the prize was initially witheld over claims he had mispronounced the Spandau stars' name.

When another listener later went on to claim the prize with the same answers, he was told he had been unsuccessful because quiz masters had deemed his pronunciation of Hadley's name to be incorrect.

However Muhammed was so upset, he wrote to the singer's manager.

And in stepped Tony to ensure Muhammed claimed his prize!

Tony, who lives in Ford, said: "As far as I'm concerned you pronounced my name correctly."

He said the result was a 'misnomer'.

And after much deliberation, the radio station decided to award both contestants with the prize money.

Writing to his Instagram page, Mr Hadley said he was 'delighted' that Muhammed had finally got his just deserts.

He said: "I am delighted to hear that Singapore’s Mediacorp have acknowledged Muhammed Shalehan’s answers as being correct in their Celebrity Name Drop competition.

"Awarding both winning contestants $10,000 each is very fair and honourable.

"I would like to take this opportunity to invite both Muhammad and the other winner, Jerome Tan, along with ‘The Gold 905 Family’ to my rescheduled concert in Singapore on 10th October 2020, and to meet backstage after the show."
