The infamous old machines, that never worked!

However we've had several calls and messages over the past week about the new machines, which have been erected without information on how you use them.

This had lead to queues of confused punters as to how to get away from the park without a ticket.

The new systems operate on automatic number plate recognition, so if you're staying at the car park for less than two hours - you do not need to input any details into the machines, you simply drive away.

We spoke to GroupNexus, who explained that the new machines would make things 'simpler than ever', and hopefully provide a stress free shopping experience.

A spokesperson for GroupNexus said:

"We're sorry for any confusion that the new system has caused.

"Basically I think the confusion has arisen when shoppers are spending less than 2 hours at the park.

"If you spend less than two hours there, you don't need to do anything.

"The cameras take a picture of your car when it exits and when you leave, and if you've been parke up for less than two hours there is nothing to worry about.

"if you stay longer than two hours, when you're finished shopping - go to the parking terminal and enter your number plate.

"As soon as you've entered three digits of the plate, a series of images come up and you simply select your car.

"Then the terminal will tell you how much your outstanding parking charge is."

The new system came online a week ago.
