Police on site as HS2 contractors begin to fell trees in Denham

Protesters have been threatened with arrest, and we are told that at least one protester has been arrested today.

Campaigners on site say they have been told by police that they would have to move off the public right of way or risk arrest, and that the land would not be open to the public for the next three months.

Anti-HS2 campaigner Sarah Green, who down there today, said: "We don't believe that this is legal work and we have confirmation from Natural England, who say that they haven't issed any licences for disruption to the area.

"Police at the scene today would not take any reports of these wildlife crimes, and threatened us with arrest for aggravated trespass."
