"One of the most unusual and heartwarming sights ever seen on the streets of Aylesbury" - Youngsters take part in the 'mini' Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity's Midnight Walk

It was probably one of the most unusual and heartwarming sights ever seen on the streets of Aylesbury as 155 parents and children followed a large cuddly bear around the town centre on Saturday night.

Florrie Bear, the mascot of Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, led the crowd of small children and adults round the one mile route, lighting up the pavement with their flashing bunny ears, encouraged by drivers tooting their horns and passers-by cheering them on.

The mini midnight walk is a precursor to the main Midnight Walk event on June 27 2020.

You can see more here.32 Volunteer Marshals, including eleven staff from Haddenham firm Defaqto, lined the route, providing support and keeping the little Walkers safe.

Jo Beardsmore-Dilks of JBD Dance and Fitness who led the warm-up before the Walk started, said:“It was an honour and privilege to be a part of the Mini Night Walk, for a charity which means so much to me.

“My little girl was able to join in her first Florence event, Rosie loved cuddling Florrie Bear, doing Baby Shark and joining in with the warm-up before the Walk. Everyone was AMAZING, and we all enjoyed it.”

The event has so far raised just over £1,700 for the Hospice, with more to come from offline sponsorship.
