The vehicle was being driven by a young woman at the time who fortunately, despite being badly shaken by the incident, sustained no physical injuries.

Emergency services attended the scene and Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) Health and Safety and Property Services are on site securing the building, including isolating the gas and electrics.

An AVDC spokesperson said in a statement: “Bookings for the pavilion have been cancelled this evening, and are likely to be so over the weekend.

“A structural engineer will need to assess the damage to the building before the vehicle can be safely removed.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused but hope you appreciate that the safety of the public must be our first concern.”

The Bucks Herald has also learned that the floodlights for the artificial outdoor surface are operated from the building and so the football match this evening has been cancelled.
