It’s been a hard-hitting year at the Herald news-wise, we’ve had the fascinating, upsetting and disturbing Maids Moreton murder trial, kept a very close and watchful eye on the failings of SEN and Children’s Services, attended the Old Bailey for the Joseph McCann trial and have worked hard on our investigation to help police solve the murder of Rita Ellis.

And not forgetting our HS2: Enough Is Enough campaign, because we believe that HS2 should be scrapped for good, to save our countryside, businesses, homes and billions upon billions of taxpayers money!

We have lobbied hard on that this year, including taking your letters to the office of Aylesbury's former MP David Lidington, challenging his statement that 'the country comes first, constituents second' on the HS2 issue. He subsequently resigned from the cabinet when Boris Johnson became Prime Minister and voiced his support for the campaign.

And you have been with us every step of the way, our HS2: Enough Is Enough campaign has nearly 2,000 members and has become a proper community of people united in the fight against the scheme, sharing ideas and experiences, and helping to paint a picture of what is really going on. If you would like to join you can sign up HEREIt's been a good year for columnists too! This year we welcomed music journalist Kris Needs into the fold who has been providing some fascinating nostalgic insights into Aylesbury's music history, in support of the Vinyl on Wednesdays event. Tracy Kiss, Alex Pratt and of course panto favourite Andy Collins have also been back, providing a chuckle at times, and something to consider at others.

The picture of the beautiful robin with this article comes from Richard Stevenson, one of our long-time reader photo contributors, thank you so much to Richard, and co-contributor Ron Adams who are prolific throughout the year and have sent us some beautiful images.

Who knows what news will happen in 2020, but one thing is for sure, we will never stop caring about Aylesbury Vale, and doing our very best!
