Mayor of Aylesbury, councillor Mike Smith did the honours, and a celebration was held for the lifesaving device.

On the day Razvan Vadana, clinical specialist manager at the Gatehouse Road care home, was on hand to explain how the equipment works, and why it is so important for staff and residents at Avondale.

A defibrilator is easy to use, and uses electric pulses to reset the rhythm of the heart during a medical emergency.

Many villages, organisations and community facilities have raised money to fund defibrilators in this area, and they provide a fast lifesaving first aid, often faster than it would take an ambulance to arrive.
