Longwicks' Allstars Academy Dance Their Way to the World Cup in Rome!

The pupils, from Allstars Academy, which is based in Longwick, in Bucks and also has a site in Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire, will be making the trip to Rome, for the Dance World Cup, to compete in a range of categoriesincluding Street Dance, Commercial and Song and Dance.

The competition is an annual event and more than six thousand dancers from sixty countries around the world take part, with the USA, Australia and Russia among them. It’s a major

achievement to be selected for Team England, who are the current champions and have won the coveted World Cup Trophy six times in the last seven years.

Principals, Natalie Powers and Amanda Constantinou started Allstars Academy in 2011. Both had established careers on the West End stage and met while starring in Starlight Express.

They now share their extensive experience with almost 400 students.

Natalie, who was also a member of the Eurovision pop band, Scooch, who had four top 40 hits, is delighted that Allstars will be representing Team England in Rome. She said, “This is

the biggest dance competition in the world and for Allstars to be selected to take part is a real honour.

It is also fantastic for our students to qualify in a number of different sections, as it demonstrates their wide-range of talents and it’s very exciting for them to be able to showcase these on a global stage!”

Amanda Constantinou added, “Our pupils work so hard, practising after school and at weekends to perfect the routines and we’re really proud of them. Many have appeared on

the West End stage and in films, but this is the first time we’ve entered the Dance World Cup, so we’re thrilled to have this opportunity.”

The team, aged between 9 and 19, will also be accompanied in Rome by teacher Nicole Romasz, who trains the academy’s specialist street dance team, ASTARZ Romasz Elite, which

she has taken to championships all over Britain in the last year. She commented, “Going to the World Cup is another level, it’s the biggest competition there is and the students will benefit enormously from meeting dancers from other cultures too.”

Allstars Academy are now fundraising for the team’s trip to Italy, with the pupils arranging events to help do this. They are also performing in their own showcase at Aylesbury’s
