In the early hours of Sunday morning, the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity Walton Court Shop was broken into.

The front door was completely smashed in, covering the entire shop floor and stock in broken glass.

The cost of the damage is unknown as yet but as well as having to replace the front door and put in additional security measures at a cost to the Charity, we have sadly had to dispose of lots of stock for safety reasons.

The police have currently launched an investigation into the crime, believed to be part of a series across Aylesbury over the weekend, according to sources.

Florence Nightingale Hospice Trust said they would like to thank Thames Valley Police for their work on this incident.

A spokesperson said: "We have been overwhelmed by messages of support (and outrage) from our supporters – thank you to everyone for your support."

Dennise Brown, Shop Manager, was on the scene on Sunday morning and was both horrified and saddened to see the devastation. “I was so sad to see the state of the shop, and to see my volunteers in tears because of the damage to our lovely shop.

"It’s also such a shame that we have had to throw away donations because of the broken glass. It might have inconvenienced us for a few hours, but we will not be beaten by this. Thank you for all the messages of support”.

Lily Caswell, Head of Retail, said “It’s just so sad. The staff and volunteers are devastated, but understandably angry about what’s happened. They all put so much hard work into our shop, only to see it damaged for very little gain”. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who have worked so hard to get the shop back up and running so quickly”.
