He said: “I was talking to Fran from Youth Concern about fundraising, and I want this to be a ‘fun’ fundraising event.

“I’ve seen the Dung Beatles before, and I know they do a brilliant show, and St Mary’s is such a beautiful place, so atmospheric and the accoustics are amazing so we know it’s going to be a great night.”

And speaking about why he has chosen Youth Concern to be his charity of the year, the mayor added: “I’ve got two kids aged 19 and 22, they’ve had a good life and lucky breaks and support but there are other kids of that kind of age that are really struggling with things that they shouldn’t have to struggle with.

“I just wanted to make any contribution that I could to the really good work that Youth Concern does in this area.”

Tickets are £15 from Aylesbury Music in Temple Street, St Mary’s Church, Aylesbury Church office, and Aylesbury Town Council office in Church Street.
