Council Leader Martin Tett 'welcomes' £170m infrastructure support grant

"This is fantastic news," said Martin. "The funding will do a great deal to provide the necessary infrastructure for the growth envisioned in the Aylesbury area, and will help the new Buckinghamshire Council and its partners realise the aspirations for the development of Aylesbury as a Garden Town."

“I’d particularly like to thank the officers of all our councils in Buckinghamshire who have worked so hard to ensure that this bid was accepted by Government, as well as our members and MPs, past and present, for their support.

Martin said the Council would now be looking at the detail of the funding conditions.

The bid was made a year ago to help accelerate new schools building, ensure adequate energy supplies for new developments, and move ahead with construction of link roads around Aylesbury to tackle congestion and draw traffic out of the town centre.

The County Council's application for Housing Infrastructure Funding was developed with help from Aylesbury Vale District Council and Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership.
