Council confirms work at Aylesbury cemetery is not a mass grave

One resident described the scene as "shocking."

However, the work is actually part of standard preparations for Muslim chambered burials which have to be done in advance.

Aylesbury Town Council provided the following statement: "We are not preparing mass graves but carrying out work we always do for Muslim chambered burials - we install them for future use as and when required by the Muslim community."

Muslims are usually wrapped in a shroud prior to burial and are not placed in a coffin. The burial chambers are made of concrete.
