A Coronavirus testing facility is set to open today for NHS staff and keyworkers.

The testing facility is set to open to a select number of those eligible, such as NHS workers or other essential workers.

People over 65 with coronavirus symptoms are also allowed to book a test.

Gareth Williams, Buckinghamshire Council Cabinet Member said the tests were 'absolutely vital' in the fight against Coronavirus.

He urged anybody who was eligible to sign up for a test online.

Tests are not available to the general public currently, but are available to:

- Frontline NHS healthcare workers, including those working in care homes

-People over 65 with symptoms

-People with symptoms going to work who cannot work from home (eg: construction workers, shop workers, emergency plumbers and delivery drivers)

-Anybody who lives with those listed above and has symptoms

Dr Raj Bajwa, Chair of NHS Buckinghamshire Clinical commissioning group said testing was essential to keep 'NHS services running smoothly' and keep vulnerable people 'as safe as possible from Coronavirus infection'.

He said: "These mobile sites will offer a great boost to our testing capabilities in Buckinghamshire, so we hope they will be well-used by those that need them.”

The site is set to open today but the location will not be publicised because it is not a drop in service.

People being tested must bring appropriate ID (for example, an NHS ID card) or a letter/email from their employer to confirm their key worker status.
