Congratulations to Haddenham's Tony and Ann on their diamond wedding anniversary!

A loving couple from Haddenham proved that togetherness conquers all this week, when they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Tony and Ann Warris were married 60 years ago in St Margaret's Church, in Edgware, London.

Fortunately the couple enjoyed a celebration with family and friends earlier this month, originally organised early to enable family from abroad to be there.

On Tony and Ann's actual anniversary day they enjoyed each other's company in isolation and received many many messages and cards from friends, family, and an all-important greeting The Queen.

The couple thanked parishioners at St Mary's Church where they are regular members of the congregation.

They said: "Thank you all so much for cards, e-cards, emails, phone calls and messages. It's not been the sort of celebration we thought we would have - no dinner out for one thing! but you have all made it special with your messages.

"It's been a beautiful day, we've had our walk, we have sufficient food, a warm home, running water and so much more to be thankful for: most importantly our family and church family".

Tony and Ann are a gig part of village life in Haddenham.

Tony was on the village fête committee for several years and was instrumental in helping to acquire defibrillators for the village and organising training in their use. He also continues to be a sidesman at St Mary's.

Ann was involved with village girl guides for about 40 years and at one point was district commissioner. Together with Chris Headlong she runs the Monday Club, which normally meets every Monday except for the first one in the month. She still volunteers at Haddenham Community Library, hears reading at the Community Infant School, helps on Snakemoor (nature reserve) work parties and recently joined in with the tree planting in Sheerstock for the reLEAF project.

Both Tony and Ann also help at the village's CaféPlus+ on the first Sunday of each month.
