Scouts and Guides are hoping for public support to buy their long-time base in Bedgrove.

The Bedgrove hut is home to the 4th Aylesbury Beavers, Cubs & Scouts, the 12th Aylesbury Rainbows, 11th Aylesbury Brownies, 12th Aylesbury Guides and the Aylesbury Trefoil Guild.

A team of volunteer leaders organise activities for 130 young people every week, and even though face to face meetings are cancelled at the moment, are still putting on a programme of virtual events, meetings and activities.

The 50 year lease on the site is about to end, and the committee has been offered the opportunity to buy the land.

So a fundraiser has been launched to help achieve that for all the young people that enjoy Scouting and Guiding activities in Bedgrove.

Alex Monro, chairman of the Bedgrove Scout and Guide HQ Committee, said: "This would be an absolutely stunning thing to do, and would safeguard the continuation of Scouting and Guiding in Bedgrove for generations to come, benefiting hundreds and hundreds of young people and their families.

"We simply don't have enough money to make the purchase yet though, so we've started on an ambitious programme of fundraising.

"We have a GoFundMe page set up which is gaining some good traction, but we have a long way to go yet!"
