The incident happened at around 7.40am this morning and police were called to the scene.

A BMW and a Ford Fiesta had left the road in the carriageway heading into Aylesbury, and the vehicles were still there into the morning, before later being recovered.

Police did not confirm whether anyone was injured in the incident, but one onlooker said that the flooding was so severe that he felt if it had been later in the day, or in the night when it was dark, it would have been much worse.

The Aylesbury Vale has seen heavy rain for the past few days, and many roads have suffered flooding as a result. Roads in Stoke Mandeville and Calvert are among those affected.

And with more rain forecast, motorists are advised to drive carefully.
