Aylesbury MP's support for The Bucks Herald during Covid-19 crisis

MP Rob Butler has expressed his support for The Bucks Herald and encouraged readers to subscribe to help mitigate the effects of Covid-19.

Like other local businesses The Bucks Herald, and its associated company JPI Media has experienced a decline in revenues, and local staff were asked to take a pay cut last week in order to save jobs. Despite this, the Herald's small team is continuing to work hard to bring you all the latest relevant local updates during this stressful time of global uncertainty which affects us all.

This week Mr Butler showed his support for the newspaper, which has supported the town since 1832.

He said: "Local newspapers are the lifeblood of local democracy.

"They enable people to be informed about what matters most to them in their own neighbourhoods – issues that play a big part in their own daily lives, but which don’t attract the attention of national papers or broadcasters.

"Never is this more important than at a time of crisis. And in the current coronavirus emergency, when most people are confined to their homes, the local paper can be the only source of vital local information – especially for those without access to the internet.

"The Bucks Herald is a valuable part of our local community and our town’s history. It deserves our support now more than ever. So I urge everyone to consider getting a copy delivered, or adding one to the shopping basket if you’re able to go out, and help ensure the future of our local newspaper."
