Inspired by Captain Tom Moore, but almost four years his senior and with only one hip, Hilda initially said that she wanted to raise £1,000 for Alzheimer's Society but at the time of writing she had already more than doubled that target.

Sadly, Hilda's husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and she nursed him for many years before he passed away in 2001. Now she wants to raise money for this cause that is so close to her heart.

This remarkable lady, who we had the pleasure of meeting in 2018 when we interviewed her about her experiences of enduring the blitz in London during the Second World War, wants to complete her 103 laps by 28 May, which coincides with Bartlett's 25th anniversary.

The total distance Hilda is aiming to walk is approximately three miles and initially the target was to complete between three and six laps a day. But yesterday, on day one, Hilda had already completed six laps before lunchtime and said she was eager to do more!

Incredibly, the centenarian can practically be seen running in the video above!

Hilda is a mother of three, a grandmother of nine and a great-grandmother of 11.
