“I can't wait to explore all the different areas of the theatre, from back stage to front of house, seeing what captures my artistic eye.

“I plan to create a series of revealing paintings reflecting the wide variety of roles and events that take place inside such a beautiful and dynamic venue.”

To date Peter has produced three paintings, the first depicting much-loved pantomime comic Andy Collins with his trademark pots and pans from the infamous 12 Days of Christmas routine, the second capturing a dress change in the wings prior to Belle’s iconic yellow dress entrance in Beauty and the Beast, and most recently, a dressing room scene featuring performer La Voix completing her finishing touches.

Local artist Peter has started working on his fourth painting which will be his largest to date depicting the technical team working up on the venue’s fly floor.

The art work will be available for public viewing from Monday 16 March, 90 minutes before shows throughout the theatre’s 10th birthday year.

The collaboration is hoped to inspire the local community and engage different groups and individuals.

Theatre Director Lee Duffy said of the Artist in Residence: “Peter’s spirit and commitment to this project has been overwhelming and inspiring.

“We feel an immense sense of pride as we reflect on 10 years of providing diverse theatre and community events, and Peter’s artistry is proving to be a fitting tribute to our exceptional industry and the teams who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure every visitor has an enjoyable experience.

“I encourage everyone to put a visit to see the exhibition on their 2020 to-do list!”
