104 bulbs for 104 years - Hilda aims to raise cash for Aylesbury Mental Health Charity

Hilda, who is at Peverel Court Residential Home in Stone wants to raise some money for a mental health charity.

Hilda is planning to plant 104 plant bulbs to commemorate her 104th Birthday.

She revealed the secret to her long life to the Bucks Herald last year - you can read about that here. The initiative is part of the Mental Health Foundation's Mental Health Awareness Week.

The Mental Health Foundation’s Mental Health Awareness Week theme this year is nature.

Peverel Court Residential Home have decided to partner with amazing local mental health charity Lindengate.

A statement from Peverel Court Residential Home said:

"At Peverel Court, we know that access to outdoor space and fresh air can be incredibly powerful.

"That’s why we have beautifully landscaped gardens at each of our care homes in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, which our residents can enjoy.

"Our fundraising day will take place on Wednesday 12th May 2021 and will be led by our 104 year old resident Hilda who, along with other residents and employees, will be planting 104 bulbs!

"Hilda is a remarkable woman who has lived a fascinating life.

"Last year, after being inspired by the incredible Sir Captain Tom, she helped to raise over £8k for Alzheimer's Society."

They are planning to raise around £500.

Kavita Salhotra from the home said: "Due to Coronavirus, we all know many people suffered with mental health issues.

"Some of our residents have watched many documentaries about how Coronavirus is effecting everyone, so we all came up with the idea to support local charity and help our community.

"Please donate to this great cause if you can."
