Objections after homes plan submitted

The homes would be built on agricultrual land off Chilton Road to the north west of the village and also include a play area.

A planning statement on behalf of Gladman Developments said the proposal is ‘considered to represent a logical extension of the village and continuation of the existing settlement pattern’.

More than 30 letters of objection have been sent to the council, which will rule on the proposals at a later date.

Chilton Road resident Michael Charnock said: “This is a busy road at school times, the school is already over subscribed, the doctors surgery could not cope with more patients in its current building.”

He also argued the sewage system would need updating as a result of more homes, which would also result in a loss of privacy.

“I hope that AVDC will see beyond the glossy brochure and promises to over-rule and stop this debacle from happening.”
