Rising Stars Day Care And Out Of School Care Ltd was started by Winslow resident Sophie Wakeman, 24, after the closure of the town’s playgroup.

The nursery was told it ‘Required Improvement’ after its first inspection in August 2014.

After inspectors visited again they upgraded the nursery, based at the scout hut in Winslow to ‘Good’ last month.

Miss Wakeman said: “We have a new team here at the nursery and are working together much more now.

“Previously I was running it myself, so it is great to have more input from other people now.

“I was so pleased to get an improved grade.

“Our next target is to try and move it up to Outstanding.”

Miss Wakeman, who lives in the town, has now completed her degree in working with children and young people, a qualification she was working on when she founded the nursery in April 2014.

Inspectors said that ‘the good quality teaching at the nursery means that all children are making progress in their learning.’

They also described the manager as ‘committed’ and said there was a ‘strong and stable’ support team in place.
