Nostalgia with Karl Vaughan: Little has changed since 1921 due to Aylesbury conservation area

At the bottom of the picture is Rickfords Hill, with Green End House and its large rear garden going off to the left.

The Saracen’s Head pub can be seen opposite the house, on the corner as the road curves upwards to meet Temple Square. Upper right is Kingsbury with Buckingham Street and the Methodist Church top centre.

It is surprising how little has changed in this part of the town since this photograph was taken. This is largely due to it being designated as a conservation area.

Although there have been some new buildings constructed most of them haven’t interfered too much with the general appearance of these old streets.
