Active Vale supporters gave Nordic walking a try to celebrate the launch of a busy spring programme.
Representatives from Aylesbury Vale District Council, Sport England and Stoke Mandeville Stadium were shown the ropes – or poles in this case - by Nordic Walking instructors Philippa and Monika.
Nordic Walking is just one of a wide range of physical activities starting this spring as part of the Active Vale initiative to encourage women and girls to get active. Swimming, swim fit, netball and lunchtime HIIT sessions are also available, with more coming soon.
Cllr Jenny Bloom, Chairman of Aylesbury Vale District Council said: “Active Vale is a fantastic programme. It’s fun, friendly and great for ladies working or living in the Aylesbury/Buckingham areas. We’re hoping it will help ladies to include physical activity within their busy lifestyles and increase confidence by trying new activities.”
Cllr Angela MacPherson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Communities and Civic Amenities at AVDC said: “I’m delighted that Active Vale is helping ladies aged 14-40 to achieve their recommended 90 minutes of exercise each week, as it can prove a particular struggle for this group. However, most sessions are open to anyone, whatever their age. The wide range of activities ensures that there really is something for everyone to try!”
