‘Nasty little group of vandals’ snap in half tree that children planted for the Queen
Mayor of Tring Stephen Hearn spoke out against the culprits after discovering that the work of Grove Road School pupils had been undone on Thursday last week.
He said: “This is very disappointing. This nasty little group of vandals seem to be hanging about in the town, and they have completely snapped it in half.

“It’s the principle of it that gets me – it’s just a nasty thing to do.”
Mr Hearn said four commemorative oak trees were planted in Tring to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 – each of them by a different school.
He said: “They were really starting to grow and this one was eight or nine feet high and last night someone snapped it in half.
“It was there for a reason – planted by children and they will be very upset at the school that this has happened.

“I hope this is not an indication of the type of kids we are starting to get in Tring again. It’s horrible.
“In general in Tring it’s very good, but there is a group of kids that are now beginning to cause a bit of a problem.”
