MPs to meet up three times a week over two years to discuss HS2 petitions

The first of many meetings between MPs to discuss opposition to the contraversial HS2 rail line began yesterday – and the process is expected to take two years.

Politicians will have to meet up three times a week to review more than 2,000 petitions, which all have to be heard before building work can begin.

The parliamentary HS2 Bill Committee will work geographically, first hearing from Birmingham before working its way to London.
