A messy fundraiser is being planned which should prove fun for all ages.

Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity (FNHC) is to hold a Colour Rush event - a 5km run, jog, walk or dance, taking place on Sunday, October 11, at ALF Green Park, Aston Clinton, with a 2km ‘mini rush’ for kids.

Participants will be showered from head-to-toe with coloured powder as you pass each ‘colour station’ – manned and sponsored by local businesses at every kilometre.

FNHC’s Karen Shardlow said: “We’re so excited to be introducing our colour run challenge. The trend for electric and colour runs is high at the moment, so the charity team wanted to create something both men and women could enjoy, whether you’re a runner, jogger or walker, and one in which the whole family can take part in. The ‘mini’ rush will appeal to younger children, who can’t do the full distance, but would like to take on something a little different. This will start before the main event, so Mums and Dads can still take on the full 5k run if they so wish.”

She added: “The event will be held on the final day of Hospice Care Week – a national awareness week to raise the profile of hospice care, so it will be very poignant for us.”

You can register to take part and claim an ‘early bird offer’ of £18 per adult, £9 per child by visiting Under 5s go FREE. There is also a special group offer on sign up - register 10 people and get one free, plus a family of four deal of £50.

Each participant will receive a white t-shirt to wear on the day and a pair of neon sunglasses.

Money raised from the event will support the funding of local palliative care services at Florence Nightingale Hospice.
