Tom Chisnell, 28, from Aylesbury, was chosen as the Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre winner, after Everyone Active – the sports and leisure operator, which manages the facility - launched the social media competition to celebrate inspiring men across the UK getting active and achieving their goals.

Tom was nominated for the campaign by fiancé Abbie Garrad, for cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats in nine days to raise money for Kidney Research.

Tom raised a fantastic £2,500 and as it that isn’t enough, he is now taking on a triathlon and a half ironman as his next challenge.

And Stuart Irwin, 50, from Buckingham, was chosen as the Swan Pool and Leisure Centre winner, after being nominated by his daughter, Kirstin.

Kirstin is very proud of her dad’s weight loss and continued determination, she describes him as her hero. Stuart struggled with his weight for years and used to hate the thought of group exercise.

Since joining Everyone Active last year fireman Stuart has lost an impressive 3.5 stone and now it’s hard to get him out of the gym and group exercise studio.

‘Our Men Can’ was launched during Men’s Health Week in June, by Everyone Active, which runs Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre and Swan Pool and Leisure Centre on behalf of Aylesbury Vale District Council.

The leisure operator invited people to nominate men, including any friends, family or workmates, of any age and ability who have inspired them to take on a new active challenge.

The competition finished on the July 15 and proved a huge success, with nominations made from all over the country on the operator’s social media pages.

After being chosen from a number of entries, Tom and Stuart were presented with their prizes of a three month free membership. Both winners will now be entered into a national draw, for a chance to win two activity days for him and a friend or family member, worth £500.
