Mayor opens festival for families and staff

Hot on the heels of last year's debut annual festival, hundreds of people enjoyed the entertainment at FreFest 2016, hosted by charity and care provider, The Fremantle Trust.

Held on Saturday 6 th August at Aylesbury College,

The festival was hosted in partnership with Santander bank and featured a cracking line-up of entertainment for those who benefit from its services and their families as well as the trust’s employees.

Officially opened by the Mayor of Aylesbury Cllr Barbara Russel, the afternoon event saw more than 300 visitors who watched live performances from popular solo vocalist Rob Oakley and ukulele quartet The Ukes of Hazzard.

Attendees were also invited to put forward tasty creations in the form of Olympic themed cakes, with Lina from Calverton chosen as the competition winner for her swimming pool cake.

There was also a chance to take part in the Fremantle Derby as well as a variety of a raffle and tombola stalls, with additional entertainment on hand from a local dance troop Spotlight Dance Squad and Sylar the Magician, who also entertained the crowds.

Liz Harris from The Fremantle Trust, said: “We were thrilled to build on the success of last year’s event and bring the festival to the local calendar for the second year running. The event is a great way of bringing those who are supported by our services and colleagues together to enjoy a great day out with their families.

“The trust is rooted in the community so we were proud to team up with our local Santander branch to enjoy a full programme of entertainment and a healthy dose of fun.”
