An ambulance crew tended to the man, believed to be in his 60s, as he lay on the ground with serious leg injuries at the crossing just off the roundabout at the junction of Bicester Road, Weedon Road and Gatehouse Road.

The air ambulance landed in the playing field at Haydon Abbey Combined School and the man has since been airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with what an ambulance serve spokesman said were thought to be potentially life changing, serious injuries to his legs.
