Man dies after being hit by transporter on A41

A pedestrian hit by a transporter on the A41 yesterday has died, said police today (July 22).

Paramedics were called at 2pm yesterday (Tuesday) to the incident on the southbound carriageway between Tring and Berkhamsted, heading towards Hemel Hempstead.

The pedestrian, a 30-year-old man, died after suffering serious head injuries after being struck by the Mitsibushi Canter transporter.

Police officers closed the carriageway to investigate the incident and the road was reopened early yesterday evening.

Any witnesses with information that could help the investigation are asked to call non-emergency number 101.

The southbound carriageway was closed while emergency services worked at the scene and the northbound carriageway was also closed for a short time to allow the air ambulance to attend.

PC Jackie Lister, who is investigating, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this very difficult time.

“We are currently working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and I am appealing for any witnesses to get in contact.

“I would also like to hear from anyone with any other information about what happened.”
