Man charged with causing death of 13-year-old Jeremy Tombs in A413 crash

Philip Mentos, 29, of Monarch Street, Aylesbury, is charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The crash happened on the A413 near Weedon on October 4, when a Volkswagen Golf was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Corsa travelling in the opposite direction.

Jeremy Tombs, the 13-year-old front seat passenger of the Corsa, died and his mother Dorothy sustained serious injuries.

Mr Mentos was bailed to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on May 10.

Jeremy, from Winslow, attended Sir Thomas Fremantle School and was a keen rugby player.

Following the tragedy, his father Mervyn, said: “Our precious son Jeremy loved, and was loved by, all who knew him. He will always be our sunshine, loved dearly. Shine on sunshine.”
