Residents and parish councillors have set up a petition, in a last ditch attempt to save Watermead from a crematorium development.

After holding meetings with developers, Aylesbury Vale District Council and the council’s head of planning drew a blank, the parish council is urging residents to sign the petition, in the hope that it will make a difference.

Sue Severn, chairman of Watermead Parish Council, said: “Do something now before it’s too late. Stop this development which will blight our village and ruin it forever.

“Watermead is the green lung for Aylesbury, visited by people wanting peace and quiet, somewhere to run, have a picnic and enjoy the wildlife in a natural environment. This is bad planning.”

Campaigners say that fumes from the cremator will travel across the lake towards homes, and that the area’s popular hot air balloon launches will have to be cancelled because of the chimneys.
