A new singing group for older people is launching next week in Aylesbury.
Following the success of Chiltern Music Therapy’s Silver Singers Group in High Wycombe, Silver Singers in Aylesbury is set to follow in its footsteps. The fun, weekly group is open to all older adults, including those with age-related illnesses such as Alzheimer’s or dementia.
No previous musical experience is necessary and the group provides a supportive environment that aims to connect people through music and singing, and improve the lives of those who feel socially isolated.
The High Wycombe group has proved extremely valuable to those attending, with many saying they feel now less anxious and more self-confident.
The group is part-subsidised by Prevention Matters, an organisation which brings together councils, the NHS and the voluntary sector to help people stay independent and active.
Silver Singers will launch at 2pm on Wednesday, September 16, at the Healthy Living Centre, Unit 1, Walton Court Shopping Centre, Hannon Road. The cost is £3.50 a week to attend, to fund the facilities and equipment.
